My Cigar Labels

Everything ever invented has a beginning from the wheel to hybrid cars. Cigar bands are yet another invention that are classified as the small piece of paper wrapped around the cigar which have an interesting beginning. Since the invention of cigars people, of course, have loved to smoke them. In the seventeen to eighteen hundreds, royalty enjoyed a tasty cigar every now and then but the stain from the cigars would get onto their white gloves. In order to prevent this, it is believed that Spanish nobles were the inventors of the cigar bands so that there wouldn’t be any staining. It is only legend that the invention of cigar bands had anything to do with Catherine the Great, but she was one of the nobles involved.

Other people would argue that cigar bands were invented by a gentleman by the name of Gustave Bock. He worked in advertising and wasn’t concerned about the staining. The purpose of him inventing it more so had to do with keeping everything together once it was rolled.

Cigar bands can contain as simple design, or be more intricate. Most cigar labels contain the logo of the person or company making it. The labels have grown to become quite artistic and people marvel at it. It is also considered classy to smoke a cigar. The labels also usually reflect the name of the country in which it came from. Now days, people can make their own cigar labels or have them made for them for weddings, showers, parties, just about any event. They have also been used as a marketing tool for businesses as it is a finer handout than say a t-shirt or a mug with your logo on it.
